Description
Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy [MSBP] was first created in 1977 and yet has still only gained credence among a small number of physicians and social workers in the Child Abuse Industry. The majority remain unconvinced or at the least, are uncommitted either way. This is despite the fact that notably there is a considerable payoff for proponents of MSBP in terms of professional esteem, status, and in some cases, very large financial rewards.

In the Paper, Charles Pragnell who has many years experience in social work with children and families involving child protection social work, and is an Expert Defence Witness – Child Protection in both England and abroad, examines the basis for MSBP and its lack of any scientific validation, the internecine disputes among MSBP proponents regarding its definition and application, and the very serious questions regarding the existence of MSBP and whether it has any value whatsoever in medicine, social work, and child protection.
